I am offering "Samantha Witch&Melvin Moon Man".Oh how Melvin would long for Samantha to wisk him away on her broom,every Halloween night,when she would fly past his lonely home on the moon!Finally,one Halloween,Samantha noticed Melvin,standing all alone,on his dusty,cratered home and quickly landed and asked if he'd like to join her for some trick~or~treating!"YES!" Melvin cried,and hopped on her broom!

This piece depicts Samantha&Melvin skipping along,having the time of their lives,on Halloween night!I have sculpted their heads from Paperclay,and their bodies are made from Muslin,with wire and wood armatures.Each doll measures roughly 12 inches tall.They are securely mounted to a wooden base.Entire piece measures approximately 14 inches tall by 11 inches wide.

SO,without further ado,our story begins.....

When Alice awoke this morning,she simply knew it was going to be a most strange and curious day indeed.

She sat up in bed,stretched and yawned,when suddenly she noticed a very persnickety and impatient Rabbit at her bedside urging her to hurry along and follow him quickly!

Alice simply could NOT say no,she loved a good adventure!So she hurried after the Rabbit.My!What a trek that bunny took her on!Through the meadow beside her house,clamboring over rock walls~"Hurry Alice,we musn't be late!"He kept shouting.

That Rabbit even led her over the tiniest wooden fairy bridge~Alice had seen it once before when she was exploring~the one that leads through the Raspberry bramble.She was barely able to cross~what a sigh of relief she breathed when she finally reached the other side!

She knew the Rabbit must be taking her somewhere very special,to have had to cross a fairy bridge!She thought she had lost site of him,when suddenly,she spied him up ahead,in a spot she was certain where fairies must live.He was beckoning her to follow down a wooded path,"Quickly,quickly,Alice!Between these two tiny trees,it's the secret passage!".

Alice quickly obliged,and hurried down the path,by this time,she was so very excited to see where he was taking her!

Finally,she turned a wooded corner,and right in front of her,she couldn't BELIEVE her eyes!It was Mr.& Mrs.Frankenstein!She had always dreamt of meeting them!How could that rabbit have known?
"Welcome,Alice!Won't you please join us for tea,Darling?!!!"

Alice curtsied and replied,"Most certainly,I am honored!".When Mr.&Mrs. Frankenstein parted to let her through,she couldn't believe her eyes!It was the most wonderful tea party she had ever seen!Little fairy dollies all having tea and cake!There was such a joyful commotion going on,on top of that tea table!

Alice simply HAD to take a closer look!

Alice politely seated herself between Mr.&Mrs.Frankenstein,she was thrilled!

Alice was in awe of Mrs.Frankenstein!She was such a beautiful hostess!

Frank was looking so dapper!He was a very quiet fellow,but so charming indeed!

~And that Rabbit!He had himself a ball overseeing the whole thing!

Before she knew it,Alice was growing so very tired and sadly realized that it was time to be getting back home,everyone would be worrying about her.Mr.&Mrs.Frankenstein bid her goodbye,and assured her that she was most welcome anytime!

With a wiggle of his nose,that persnickety impatient Rabbit had Alice safely back home,and in her own bed.

Well,she's finally finished! I have spent HOURS on this dollie,the past few days,but I'm really happy with how she turned out! She is currently up for auction on eBay. I have decided to go back to my first love,of sculpting.When I started making dollies 6 or 7 years ago,I started out with papier~mache,and have just gradually migrated away from it.I keep trying new things,and that's so much fun~I love trying it all!But all the while,I knew my creativity just wasn't where it once was,and I've been thinking and thinking about where I want to go with my dolls,and after my butterfly doll and a few bunnies,I just feel like I know I need to be back sculpting!I've got SO many ideas for Halloween pieces,so please keep checking back!Thanks so much,for stopping in!

Ophelia now has arms,and she seems to like them very well! I have been having so much fun working on this wonderful old dollie!Her body is so intriguing.I would SO love to know the story behind her.She is just wrapped in layer upon layer of old scraps of fabric and lovely old brown striped chintz.Here she is without her arms~

And here she is with her new set that I made for her from Muslin that I tea & coffee stained~

A couple of days ago I received an amazing doll in the mail that I had won on eBay.She was one of those dollies that the moment I saw her,I knew I had to have her!When I opened the package up,and unwrapped her,I was instantly love struck!She is HUGE! At least 31 inches tall!I am only going to do some minor restorations.She is so beautiful just as she is.She is one of those old souls that just has so much to tell! I have decided to document her humble restoration process here on my blog in case anyone is interested in following along.Here is Ophelia the day she arrived~

She now has a lovely new set of eyes that she seems very thankful for!

Today I am working on a new set of lower arms for her.Pictures soon!

I just finished my first Teddy Bear that is made in the style of a true old bear.I've made a couple before,but not with all the intricate body parts that make the old bears so special.If anyone knows the maker of the old bear on wheels in the picture,I'd love to find out! I don't think he's a Steiff because the wheels have solid red hubs,and the Steiff's that I've seen have open metal spokes.

I have FINALLY made a Mermaid!I have been wanting to for ages,now! I am really happy with the way she turned out!I am especially pleased with her custom made stand,complete with sand,and tiny seashells.

I have sculpted her head from Paperclay,and made her body from Muslin.She has lots of real seashells,and antique lace!She is carrying her pet seahorse,that I also sculpted from Paperclay.

I wanted to share a couple of pics of a special order that I just finished up yesterday.The sweet customer that ordered the Butterfly from me,decided her dollie needed a Dragonfly friend.Here she is~

.....well,almost! I am just so excited about this doll,that I just couldn't wait to share her!Greg has made her an amazing display theatre!We just have to add curtains,and it will be finished.He is also going to make her a custom chair to sit in.Right now she is sitting in one of my doll's chairs.

Greg has carved her entirely out of wood,just like the 18th century originals were!

Greg has put one of his specialty finishes on her theatre.It is just gorgeous!Pictures don't do it justice at all!The mouldings are beautiful!

He even made a wood floor for it out of 150 year old Heart Pine,from an old barn! It is actually individual planks!Just like a real wood floor!

Her delicately carved wooden hands~

Greg has even given her jointed legs,so that they bend!He also carved them like the originals.The front side of her knees(the green ribbons you see are a part of her knickers)~

Work in Progress&Exciting New Website News!

I am SO very excited to be a part of Doreen Frost of Vermont Harvest Folk Art's new website called the Early Work Mercantile.If you would like to receive an email from me,to notify you of my items for sale there,please just sign up in the column to the right,to be on my mailing list!

The site will focus on Folk Art reminiscent of the 18th&19th centuries!There are so many wonderful artist's that will be taking part in the site.I am so excited!The Grand Opening will be May 1st,so please be sure to mark your calendars!

Also,I just wanted to share a work~in progress pic,of a butterfly that is a special order.The wings are not painted yet,and there is still lots to do!The customer requested a butterfly that was entirely needle~felted,except for the wings.I have never made a doll that was entirely needle~felted.I hope everyone is having a wonderful day~until next time!

Greg has finished another Hitty,I really love this one!I painted her facial features&hair only.All other painting and finishing was done by Greg.I made her a tiny little Frozen Charlotte dollie from a mold I took from one in my collection,from the 1880's.She is for sale now on eBay.

I finally finished a Black Pug that my Hubs' Aunt ordered.I sculpted his head from Paperclay,and needle~felted his body from sheep's wool.

It is so wonderful to finally be seeing some glorious signs of Spring!The Bradford Pear's are just beginning to bloom,and all of my Daffodil's and Lenten Rose's are blooming in my yard.I can't wait to garden!
