Update on Greg's Queen Anne...

I am so excited about Greg's Queen Anne that he is carving, that I had to show a few more progress pics!He has carved her in the "William&Mary"style, from the 1600's!.I have learned that the queen Anne's from this time period, are actually referred to this way. They had more prominently carved facial features, and their eyes were painted, and not pupil~less. Also, instead of the traditional"dots"over the eyebrows&eyes, these dolls had tiny dashes that look like stitches. They generally had very high foreheads, and beauty marks.

He has even hinged her legs at the knees&peg jointed them.It is amazing to me,that this is all carved from wood! I was amazed when he decided for his first Queen Anne to be one from this time period! I was hoping simply for one of the late 1700's one's,with the simple round head, triangle nose&straight legs! I think he has done a marvelous job!

He has done all Gessoeing(is that a word?*wink*)painting&aging, himself. The only painting I have done,is her facial features. We have decided she needs a very royal looking Red Sheep's Wool for her hair.I have just set it in place,so you can have a general idea,of how she will look with her hair.

He was inspired by a doll in the wonderful book"The Heart of the Tree".She is from the 1680's!
